The View From Here

Calling All Readers!

It’s getting towards quitting time here at my office as I write this, but I couldn’t close up shop for the day without sending a big mille grazie! out to Anita and all the members of the Kibbe Tract Book Club in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. I telephoned in to their monthly meeting this past Wednesday night to talk about Home To Italy.

Having never before called in to a book club meeting that way, I didn't know what to expect, but what a great time it turned out to be! We talked for close to an hour about Peppi and Lucrezia and food and cycling-- and about when, God willing, Home To Italy is finally going to be made into a movie! It was a lot of fun and I loved every minute of it.

Thank you all!

In other important news, I finally got around to turning over my garden so that I can get my tomato plants in the ground this weekend. I’m a little late this year, but the weather is just beginning to turn hot, so hopefully my plants will catch up and Corinne will be able to make us some nice tomato salads later this summer. Is there anything better?

Anyway, the summer solstice is almost here. Given that I haven’t posted a blog entry since the winter solstice, I know that this one was long overdue. I promise to do better, so please check back from time to time and keep in touch.

ciao
